Great Heat is the twelfth solar term, around July 22 to 24, when the sun is located at 120°celestial longitude. It’s a season with the highest temperature, where the crops grow fastest and the most frequent time for drought, water logging and windy weather. There is a proverb that eastern lighting means no rain while western lightening is followed by rain immediately and it is too late to escape.
